Match Report: Evesham 1 - 4 Solihull Moors (Over 65s)
Regional Semi-Final – National Cup

Solihull Moors Over 65s marched into the final of the Regional Finals of the National Cup with a commanding 4-1 win over a spirited Evesham side.

Despite the scoreline, this was far from a one-sided affair. Evesham battled hard throughout and made Solihull work for every inch, with their goalkeeper putting in a standout performance – including a superb penalty save that kept the hosts in contention.

Solihull started brightly, with Graham Liddiard continuing his rich vein of form by netting twice in the first half to put the visitors 2-0 ahead. However, Evesham responded well and pulled one back before the break, setting up an intriguing second half at 2-1.

After the restart, Liddiard completed his hat-trick to restore the two-goal cushion, before John McGinnell added a fourth to seal an impressive performance and a deserved win.

Beyond the football, the hospitality from Evesham was outstanding. Solihull Moors would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Roger and everyone at the club for making the team feel so welcome. This was Solihull’s second recent visit to Evesham, and once again the stunning setting and warm reception made it a pleasure.

Credit also to referee Kevin, who officiated the game with exemplary professionalism throughout.

Solihull now look ahead to the regional final with confidence – but not without acknowledging the excellent challenge posed by Evesham, who were a credit to the competition.
